00:00 Intro Auto Hide Comment Facebook Intro
Hello and good day ToolFinderss!
This is Olaf again with a One-Minute Productivity Tip.
And this one is about social media, more specifically Facebook, and how you can curate or moderate your content automatically which is a big, big time saver.
So, stay tuned if you ever advertise on Facebook or you post stuff on Facebook, and you want your comments to stay clean and tidy.
00:34 Example Comment Facebook Comments
So, what are we talking about?
Well, let me go to the page; in this case, Iโm going to my inbox.
And as you can see, Iโm in Facebook here.
This is one of my products, and when I scroll down a little, then you can see that some comments are hidden like this.
At first, I used to do this by myself and just searched through all these comments and decide whether I wanted this comment to remain or not.
01:13 Why should you hide a Facebook comment?
Well, typically I hide them because they’re not relevant.
I mean, some people are referring to other people.
Or they are talking to their neighbor, and they say hi you should try this or whatever.
Which is nice, but it is not really relevant to your public.
Another reason could be they are trash talking about your product, and you can see in the back office that they didn’t even buy it…
So, that’s also very strange how people get to react and comment on stuff they never bought, but still have an opinion on.
The other one could be that they refer to other products that might be cheaper or better, or their own products most of the time ๐
And obviously, they also refer to all kinds of Chinese products, for example AliExpress or whatever.
So, in any case you don’t want these comments, you want the nice comments, the good comments.
And I don’t mean you’ll have to get rid of every negative comment there is because that wouldn’t be sensible as well.
They also are obviously allowed to have their own opinion, but you want it to be the right mix of comments.
02:16 Facebook Comments Hide Options ยท How to delete a Facebook comment, How to hide a Facebook comment
So, what can you do if a comment is something that you don’t like, and you want to get rid of?
Well, in Facebook you have a couple of options. You can go to the comment and:
- delete it
- or hide it
The difference being that deletion would mean that the person who made the comment won’t see it, their friends won’t see it… nobody would see it.
So, it’s completely deleted nobody would see this comment in your post again.
The other option, however, is hiding which means that the person who commented will still see it and their friends as well, but everybody else won’t see it ๐
That is my preferred option because then you don’t shake up anybody.
03:00 How to ban people from your Facebook page
Because if you delete the comments, then there is a chance that they get back to you and say you deleted my comment blah blah blah…
To avoid this just hide it!
In this case, automatically hide ninety percent of all the comments that you don’t like by using the auto-moderate functionality in Facebook that Iโm going to show you.
You can delete it, you can hide it and once it’s hidden, you can still click on them, and you see them.
You can also ban a person if somebody keeps on trash talking about you or your product, and it just doesnโt make any sense.
Then just ban them, and they won’t be able to comment again on any post on your page.
03:35 Auto Hide Comments Facebook Content Moderation
But what if you want to avoid doing this manually?
I did this manually for a long time, and then I thought to myself there must be a better way right?
Being The ToolFinderr and all… maybe I took me a little bit too long to try and find something else because I didn’t think there would be a solution, lol.
But there is!
And Iโm going to show it to you right now.
If you go to your page, in this case Iโm on mine, and you go to settings -in my case that is on the left bottom- and you click then you will have the option here.
I will enlarge this a little bit… then you see Content Moderation over here.
So, in my account the posts containing these words are blocked, and then you see a whole list of words.
Most of them are in Dutch, so maybe it doesn’t mean anything to you. But it’s about AliExpress, it’s about that they say it’s garbage etc.
Or they tried it, and they are referring the product to other people or other products.
In my case, I gathered this list of words, so that when one of these words is in the comment, it gets automatically hidden by Facebook.
This is a huge timesaver!
Obviously, you should think a little bit ahead about these words because you don’t want to be blocking comments that could actually be positive for you or be helpful to your viewers.
So be careful what you put in this, but you will know after a while.
What I would recommend is just start and build this list as you go.
So, in this case whenever a comment will be made on one of my posts, and it might be an ad it might be a regular post, Facebook will check and if there is one of these words in it, it will be hidden automatically.
And other people won’t see the comment.
That’s my tip for today ๐
